My Book (Briefly) Outsold Simon Sinek

From Pandemic Panic to Bestseller

Yes, that’s a real screenshot in the preview image.

For a few brief, surreal days, Career After COVID-19 sat at #1 on Amazon Australia — with Start with Why by Simon Sinek right below it.

It still feels unreal, because this book was born out of panic.

In March 2020, my entire marketing business collapsed within 48 hours. As a single mum in Perth, staring at a calendar full of cancelled client calls, I felt pure fear. There was no plan B — just two kids, a mortgage, and a blank page.

So I turned to the one thing I’d spent years helping other people do: get their career back on track. Only this time, it was my turn.

What began as a podcast called Career After COVID-19 became a lifeline for thousands of people trying to rebuild their work lives. When listeners started asking for something tangible — “Have you written a book on this?” — I decided to do what I’d always told my clients: treat the book like a business.

I researched my audience.
I chose my categories strategically.
I built a launch team before writing a single chapter.

Six months later, my book launched — and within 48 hours, it hit #1.

That photo of Career After COVID-19 above Start with Why? It was strategy, timing, and heart.

But success didn’t make life simple. Just as speaking invitations and consulting work started to pour in, I was diagnosed with a rare cancer. Everything stopped — except the book. It kept selling, connecting, and opening doors while I focused on survival.

That experience changed how I teach book marketing forever. A well-positioned book is an asset that keeps working even when you can’t.

Today, I help other entrepreneurs and authors do the same: write books that build credibility, generate income, and create impact.
